Pond Management Program

Many facilities use on-site ponds as part of their waste management program. These ponds often use liners to prevent wastewater and/or sludge from leaching into the underlying soil and waterways. Envirotec provides a comprehensive pond management program that will maintain the storage capacity of the pond, improve the water quality, and preserve the pond liner for years to come.

Envirotec’s 5 Dimension Program for Pond Management

1. Pond Surveying

We first perform a pond survey to help identify the best method for sludge removal. The pond survey provides estimates of the following:

The quantity of sediments that have accumulated in the pond.
The location of the sediments inside the pond.
The state of the sediments, i.e. whether it is loose or compacted.

2. Liner-Safe Dredging & Separation

With our partners, we provide pond dredging services that are liner-safe. Our pond dredging services remove sediments and solids from your pond without damaging the underlying liner. Dredged material goes through our separation system to produce stackable solids for haul-off and disposal.

Our separation process is highly efficient and produces stackable solids that pass the paint filter test, which checks for the presence of free liquids. The water recovered from our separation process is pumped back to the pond to save you costs and minimize your environmental footprint.

Installing pond liners is a big investment. Envirotec employs solids removal methods that will protect your pond liner. Envirotec offers pontoon style dredges as well as barge dredges. These dredges are outfitted with specialty solids removal pumps and an auger or jet rings to agitate the sediments without impacting the pond liner underneath.

For contaminated dredged sediments, Envirotec has the ability to first separate the solids from the wastewater, and then treat the wastewater separately.

We’re not only limited to ponds. We can also dredge solids from a variety of bodies of water including lakes, creeks, and basins.

3. Water Quality Management

Some ponds require water quality management with the use of chemicals. Envirotec provides a water quality management program tailored to your needs. This program monitors all required parameters and maintains the chemical balance of the water.

4. Aeration Systems

We also offer water quality management with the use of aeration. Envirotec can build new pond aeration systems as well as provide ongoing support to maintain and replace aeration systems that are defective or damaged.

5. Liner Repairs & Replacement

Base for new liner install.

If your pond liner is already damaged, Envirotec conducts a full inspection to assess the extent of the damage. Damaged liners leak and incur hefty fines. You may be forced to close the pond if it does not pass inspection by regulators.

Envirotec offers a safe way to repair damages to your pond liner. If your pond liner is damaged beyond repair, we offer full liner replacement services. Alternatively, we could add a secondary liner on top of the existing liner to create an intact seal.

For ponds that are unlined, Envirotec uses earth-moving equipment and skilled crews to remove all solids from the pond and then haul it off site.
